FAQs
General exercise physiology
What is an Accredited Exercise Physiologist (AEP)?
An AEP is a university-qualified practitioner who must meet specific ongoing requirements to acquire and maintain accreditation. In Australia, this is under the peak professional body for AEPs, Exercise & Sports Science Australia (ESSA).
What’s the difference between exercise physiology and physiotherapy?
Both exercise physiologists and physiotherapists are registered health professionals that seek to achieve similar end goals for their clients. However, the types of interventions and treatment plans that they use to get there are likely to differ. Exercise physiologists adopt clinical exercise interventions and programs, where physiotherapists tend to be more hands-on in their diagnosis and treatment. Which you should see depends on your condition, injury, disease or circumstance that you’re aiming to improve, as well as the stage or severity of this. In any instance, call us for a chat if you’re after some advice!
What conditions do you specialise in?
Exercise Physiologists (EP’s) are skilled in musculoskeletal and neurological rehabilitation. At Motion Rehab, we’re also specialists in exercise programming that can assist with other chronic conditions, including post-cancer rehab, anxiety and depression, cardiac conditions, lifestyle diseases and chronic pain.
Motion Rehab services
Why should I choose Motion Rehab?
Motion Rehab is focussed on dedicated health support, with a personal touch. You can expect the full service offering of an accredited exercise physiologist (EP) provider - including chronic conditions, post-cancer rehab, anxiety and depression, lifestyle diseases and more - as well as personalised, client-focussed care that’s often missed with big service providers. Additionally, we specialise in neurological NDIS and workers compensation.
What areas does Motion Rehab cover?
At the current time, we cover the Sydney metro area.
What steps will I be taking throughout the process?
1. Initial assessment - we’ll conduct a detailed assessment of where you are now, and what your needs are.
2. An active plan - once confirmed, we’ll commence your sessions and implement a tailored exercise program.
3. Regular reviews - we’ll provide you with continuous support and constant monitoring to gauge your progress.
4. Reassess - we’ll plan what’s next!
Where do you perform your programs?
Our programs can be delivered in a local gym if this is your preferred setting (or you wish to be out and about), in a local pool facility should you require a hydrotherapy program, or in your home if you require some daily living interventions. It really comes down to what your personal goals are, as to how we can achieve them!
NDIS Plans
Can I claim my NDIS funding on exercise physiology services?
Absolutely! We specialise in a range of conditions that can be funded through self-managed or plan-managed NDIS plans. This is through Improved Health and Wellbeing or Improved Daily Living categories, which you can find more on here.
